The Hereford Launch started the Wye Valley River Festival on Friday, April 29
Early in the evening Engage Youth Circus entertained with a dazzling performance, the Water ones performed their mysterious water rites including the Bucket Ceremony and our Festival choir sang a medley of river songs. An evening procession led the Giant Samovar up to the Serai. The illuminated Festival Heron flowed down the Wye carrying the flame to light the Samovar which was taken up to the Samovar by torchlight procession led by the Water Ones. With due ceremony the Samovar was lit and heralded with music and fireworks. The audience then enjoyed a magnificent Firework Display which reflected in the river. A wonderful and intruiging start to our River Festival 2016.

A partnership between the AONB Unit, Ross-on-Wye Town Council and Natural England have started tree management work on the banks of the Wye where it passes through Ross, to benefit biodiversity and create river views.
